From the year 2000 to 2021, over 200 shopping centres were developed in the Sub-Saharan African countries. This excludes North African Countries (covered by the Middle East Council for Shopping Centres) and South Africa (covered by South African Council for Shopping Centres).
Africa will continue to expand its retail footprint over the next few years. With SARS-CoV-2 coming to an end, it has forced many countries for the need to reform the financial sector, build infrastructure, focus on technology and focus on Climate Change and the environment. More than this, is the need to create employment for the young population across the continent. Our shopping centres may end up being different from those in the US. We have this opportunity to ensure that retail plays its part in becoming a catalyst for change.
While South Africa continues to pull in global investors, watch out for Kenya, Ghana, Rwanda in the retail sphere.
With this in mind, we are the disseminators of good information on all 54 countries (plus teh 4 areas of Sovereignty) Our new Directory will be published in June. Advertise and showcase our continent!
